Taughannock Falls - Framed Photographic Print
Taughannock Falls drops 215 feet in a single fall of water into a gorge above Cayuga Lake, in the Finger Lakes of New York. It is the tallest single-drop waterfall east of the Rockies.
The cliffs around it rise nearly 400 feet and form a natural amphitheatre. In this frame the water falls straight out of the layered rock and vanishes into its own spray. The scale only really lands when you find the boulders at the pool.
It was a long hike along the stream bed, but finally we could hear it, and shortly after we caught sight of it. That one single drop, 66 metres, 15 more than Niagara.
